Edith M. Buss, 82, of Tripoli, died Friday, December 19, 2014, at the Waverly Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 22, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church-Crane Creek of rural Tripoli with Rev. Scott Duffus officiating. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 21, 2014, at Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made in her name to St. John Lutheran Church-Crane Creek or given directly to the family.
Edith Marie, daughter of Henry and Esther Nielsen Franzen, was born May 23, 1932, at Coleridge, Nebraska. She moved with her family to Sumner, Iowa and was confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church on March 30, 1947. Edith graduated from Sumner High School in 1951. On December 27, 1953, she was united in marriage with Mervin C. Buss at St. John Lutheran Church-Crane Creek. Edith was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the farm. She was a longtime active member of St. John Lutheran Church-Crane Creek where she participated in the WELCA, the Sunshine Group, and the quilting ladies. She enjoyed Ducks Unlimited, time spent in her garden, and most especially, time spent with her family.
Edith is survived by three children, Brad (Theresa) Buss of Waverly, Sherri (Mark) Zanotti of Cedar Falls, and Jeff (Linda) Buss of Tripoli; seven grandchildren, Kara (Jose) Pineda, Emily (Brandon) Jones, Brian Buss, Lisa Zanotti, Haley (Ryan) Urich, Tiffany Buss, and Alex Buss; three great grandchildren, Alaya and Jose Pineda, and Lily Jones; and her brother, Merlin (Carol) Franzen of Denver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin, who died October 23, 2013; her parents; and one brother, Edward.
